Ask our Experts a Question

Practice guidance plays a crucial role in promoting safe and effective nursing care for the public. As a Right-touch relational regulator, the CRNA is committed to transparency and providing comprehensive information to help registrants, collaborators and the public understand critical or complex areas in the nursing practice.

Anyone can ask for practice guidance at any time, relating to:

§    Standards of Practice: Understanding the CRNA's standards of practice, their intent, and what registrants are accountable for across different practice settings.

§    Code of Ethics: Applying the Code of Ethics to generic nursing scenarios to ensure ethical decision-making in practice.

§    Continuing Competence Requirements: Meeting the continuing competence requirements necessary for annual permit renewal.

§    Registration Requirements and Policies: Navigating registration requirements and understanding relevant policies for maintaining good standing with the CRNA.

The CRNA cannot provide practice guidance related to specific practice scenarios or questions that would be covered by an employer's policies or procedures.

For more information about practice guidance, read the CRNA's Practice Guidance Framework.

The answers to commonly asked practice guidance questions such as self-employed practice and restricted activities can be found in our Practice Guidance FAQs.
