Governance Coordinator

At the CRNA, we are committed to regulatory excellence and safeguarding the public interest. We are seeking a Governance Coordinator to provide administrative, operational and strategic support to our Council and governance committees. This role is critical to ensuring the smooth functioning of governance operations that align with the CRNA’s mandate to support safe, competent and ethical nursing care for all Albertans.

As part of the Governance team, the Coordinator will work closely with internal departments, Council and committee members, as well as external partners to facilitate seamless meetings, document governance decisions and enhance policy processes. What You Will Do

Governance Administration & Meeting Support

  • Coordinate all aspects of Council and committee meeting logistics (scheduling, venues, technology, catering).
  • Prepare and distribute agendas, meeting packages, annotated Chair notes and presentations.
  • Manage meeting participation tracking, quorum verification and technology facilitation during in person/hybrid/virtual sessions.
  • Provide backup and collaborative support to other governance coordinators.

Governance Documentation & Records Management

  • Draft, format and distribute minutes, action items and decisions in line with the CRNA standards.
  • Maintain accurate governance records including committee membership, attendance and terms.
  • Support policy versioning, review schedules and document retention in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Records and Information Management

  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding and evaluation of committee members.
  • Track governance policy reviews and support updates and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with governance events such as training sessions, orientations and retreats.

Financial Administration

  • Process Council and committee expense claims.
  • Submit governance-related invoices and support financial tracking and reporting.

Partner Communication and Relationship Management

  • Serve as a liaison between the Governance team and internal departments, Council and committees.
  • Coordinate governance-related updates with the Communications & Engagement team.
  • Respond to inquiries about governance processes and support professional, timely exchanges.

What You Possess

Education:

Two-year post-secondary education in administration, governance, business or a related field.

Experience:

5–7 years of administrative or coordination experience, preferably in a governance, regulatory or public-sector setting. GPC.D designation is an asset.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Governance Knowledge: Familiarity with governance policies, regulatory compliance and best practices.
  • Organization & Attention to Detail: Strong planning, prioritization and documentation skills.
  • Communication: Clear, professional verbal and written communication; experience interacting with cross functional/executive-level partners.
  • Technology Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint); adept with meeting platforms (e.g., MS Teams).
  • Project & Policy Coordination: Experience supporting projects, tracking action items and managing policy updates.
  • Problem-Solving & Initiative: Resourceful, proactive and adaptable in fast-paced environments.
  • Professionalism & Discretion: Maintains confidentiality and sound judgment at all times.
  • Collaboration & Customer Focus: A team player committed to service excellence and respectful, inclusive communication.
