CARNA Provincial Council is part of a network, responsible for making decisions that affect Alberta’s registered nurses and nurse practitioners. As part of Council, you will:
The average time commitment is 8-10 hours per month in addition to quarterly meetings that are 2-3 days at the CARNA office. The role requires time off work to prepare for and attend meetings, media training, workshops, conferences and other special events.
There is a notable number of documents you are expected to review in preparation for discussion and decision at Council meetings.
You must also have support from your employer, since the position requires time off work to attend certain functions.
All positions are non-paid, except the position of president because of the heavier workload involved. Employer reimbursement is available for all Councillors attending meetings during regular work hours.
