Regional Coordinators
Role
Regional Coordinators have a broad range of nursing experience across numerous practice settings and enjoy thought-provoking exchanges with members. They are committed to representing members’ concerns to the provincial office and to ensuring that RNs in their regions are aware of the resources and support available to them from CARNA.
Regional Coordinators facilitate two-way communication with CARNA members where they live and work by:
- attending nursing meetings to hear concerns and issues
- directing concerns and issues to appropriate persons/committees of CARNA
- acting as a resource for information from CARNA
- producing a monthly regional newsletter called Take Note
- providing education sessions for RNs on numerous topics including Nursing Practice Standards and Continuing Competence
- helping to establish and support nursing practice groups
- providing information about the nursing profession and the role of CARNA
- organizing and supporting CARNA regional volunteer activities and special events including national nursing week activities and regional CARNA long service award celebrations
Regional Coordinators (RCs) are registered nurses employed by CARNA to provide RNs with a resource and communication link to their professional association.
They are energetic and enthusiastic members of the CARNA team and travel widely throughout the CARNA regions. Each of our nine RCs is based in a home-office in one of CARNA’s six regions:
Northwest
Northeast
Central
Edmonton/West
Calgary/West
South
