· Graduate nurse practitioner (GNP) applicants are:

• Alberta registered nurses who have completed a Canadian nurse practitioner (NP) program; and
• have met all eligibility requirements for registration except for passing the required national registration exam appropriate to the stream of practice of their education

Graduate Nurse Practitioner Temporary Permit

· While waiting to complete eligibility requirements, Nurse Practitioner Graduates may submit an application for a GNP temporary practice permit so that they may engage in nurse practitioner practice.

• Graduate nurse practitioners are permitted to engage in the full scope of nurse practitioner practice within the parameters of the practice context while holding a valid GNP temporary practice permit.
• “Graduate Nurse Practitioner” and “GNP” are protected titles and may only be used by GNP temporary practice permit holders.
